Battle of Somme 1916

Casualties: Germans 500,000, French 200,000, UK 420,000.
Duration of engagement: July 1st, 1916 to November 18th 1916.
Gains: UK and France gain 12 kilometers of ground.

Actually no I didn't. I stumbled on your blog by way of Clublife and have been reading for like a few months by now. Will look for it.

I was in the Army back in the 90's and when I got out I studied history for my undergrad studies. Mostly American conflicts and military history. SOme social and cultural studies. WWI has long been a subject I wanted to get more intimate with. This class lasts until the end of may so you will see some research here. But I was stationed in Germany for a year and got to travel to a few historic sites. Got me hooked. I cant wait to go back with what I know now.
