Otto freakin Dix. And people like to think war doesn't have an effect on people...





Otto Dix was a German artist that set out to paint some realism about what he saw go down during World War I. In the black and white image, kinda odd he used German soldiers to be the object of that painting. They are seen as scary as hell. I agree. I bet the Nazis didn't like that. I have not completed the write up on Dix, but the man captures what war is better than most I ahve seen. What those guys lived through at Flanders and the Somme is a dent to humanity. No matter which side you were on.

That dude was an awesome artist. Definitely in the vein of Geironymus Bosch or Francis Bacon.
