Hey I got down and watched some spring training games last night. I love my O's and its good to read that Hernandez has his shit together. Even I was like, dude is getting fat. We're paying him what?

Ramon signed a 4 year 27.5 million dollar contract to begin the 2006 season. That is roughly $6.875 million a year. The club has an option for 2010.

He turns 32 in May this year. So the odds are that the first two years were high end in the salary probably paying him 8 million a year. The reason you do this is because those were his productive years. If he washes up it softens the blow because they have already paid the big chunk of his salary.

His first year as an Oriole he set career highs as well as team highs for the year. He was a good pick up. Last year was injury riddled and he never played at full stength. As reported, he is in great shape and should do well this year. Either way it's not about winning right now it's about developing.

Does anyone realize that Wieters is only few years away? The club option for 2010 makes sence. They are predicting Wieters to be here around mid 09. Having Ramon Hernandez as a back up catcher in 2010 won't be such a bad thing and I am sure he will understand his role.
